In the Parish of Avoyelles in Louisiana a Legend was born but not just any legend, the Bowie. According to accounts Bowie got into an argument with a Banker and his pistol misfired and he was wounded. After he recovered from his wound, his brother Rezin gave him his hunting knife. He is quoted as saying to James, "Here, take old Bowie...he never snaps", meaning the knife would not misfire. This style of knife has been infamous ever since. The attractive variation you see here is definitely something to talk about with its massive blade and broad handle. The blade is a traditional clip point with a short fuller and satin finish but the thickness of the blade is the prize making it extremely durable. It is constructed from 440 stainless steel. Wooden bands on the handle give it a unique look while the brass guard and pommel accents the colors making them subtle yet vibrant. Included is a thick tooled leather sheath with a belt loop and snap closure.
