Description:

This is a polearm that feels like it was pulled straight from a late 15th to early 16th-century arsenal. Representing a pinnacle of medieval European warfare, the "pollaxe" was a knight's trusted companion, offering a devastating combination of crushing, cutting, and thrusting capabilities. The head assembly itself is a faithful reproduction of a museum piece, built with the robust functionality of the period in mind. It is constructed from 1/4" thick steel with sturdy 1/8" langets, designed to be a highly effective weapon. The core of this weapon is its multi-functional head. On one side sits a crescent-shaped, single-edged axe blade, featuring a distinct decorative three-leaf clover (trefoil) cutout punched directly into the steel—an authentic period detail that lightens the head without sacrificing integrity. Opposite the blade is a menacingly large, rectangular hammer head, designed to deliver devastating blunt force through armor. Rising from the top is a robust, diamond-cross-section thrusting spike, giving the weapon a lethal point for piercing. The head is securely mounted onto a custom, very long, hardwood shaft, reinforced by a pair of 1/8" thick side langets that run down the haft and are riveted in place. These langets are historically accurate reinforcements, designed to prevent the wooden shaft from being sheared during a powerful strike. A thick, polished cast-metal collar ring with decorative raised notches secures the base of the head assembly. The weapon is overall in good condition, with some honest wear including tarnish and minor rust spots on the steel—consistent with its age and handling. The axe blade is sharp and the head is securely mounted. This is a substantial piece of historical weaponry, ready for display or reenactment.
