Description:
This is a replication of a 16th-century late Gothic war hammer, commonly referred to in historical contexts as a "crow's beak" due to its distinctive bird-beak-shaped reverse spike. This style of weapon was used during the late medieval and Renaissance periods, and this piece captures the distinctive silhouette and solid construction of the originals. The head is the defining feature. One side features a flattened, circular striking face with stepped tiers. The opposite side transitions into a long, down-curved, diamond-section spike. The head is forged from carbon steel with a dark, aged finish that gives it a period-appropriate look. The shaft is constructed from all-steel with a sturdy hexagonal profile, providing extreme durability. Positioned along the shaft are two steel rondel guards—circular metal discs that bracket the grip area. The top guard provides protection for the hand, while the bottom rondel acts as a pommel cap. The grip between the rondels is wrapped tightly in genuine brown leather over a contoured handle, providing an ergonomic and secure hold even when wet or muddy. This is a fully handmade piece, forged from carbon steel. It's a substantial, well-built reproduction—ideal for collectors of medieval and Renaissance arms, historical enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates the craftsmanship of a Gothic war hammer.Â
