Description:

The Xiphos sword is a double-edged, one-handed Iron Age straight short sword used by the ancient Greeks. It was a secondary battlefield weapon for the Greek armies after the dory or javelin. This sword allowed soldiers to defend themselves in close combat. The name xiphos apparently means something in the way of "penetrating light" according to researcher and swordsmith Peter Johnson. This sword gives a modern twist to a classic blade. Speaking of the blade, it is made from hand forged Damasus that consist of 1095/15n20 alloy steel made with a 176 blade layers and tempered around 54 to 55. The twist pattern really brings the blade to life with the flowing movement of the design. The parallel edges come sharp and ready for use. What is interesting about this blade is the unusual fuller. Instead of running vertical down the center, it is horizontal. Gouges were taken out almost the entire length of the blade. This superior weapon has a full tang construction and a handle to die for. I mean look at it! Segmented contoured sheesham has been stained and fitted to create this stunning handle. In between each segment it has two layers of teal stained wood with a brass spacer. Brass pins hold each segment in place. To carry your weapon with you we have included a premium leather sheath with back strap and belt loop.
