Description:
The Imperial Gallic helmet, or galea, was the signature armor of the Roman legionary from the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD. Influenced by the craftsmen of Gaul, it was the helmet worn by the soldiers who marched with Julius Caesar into Britain and later garrisoned Hadrian's Wall. This replica pays tribute to that legacy. Crafted from 18-gauge carbon steel, this helmet features a rounded cap with a brow visor, hinged cheek plates, and a flared neck guard in the rear—elements that defined the classic Roman silhouette. Decorative embossed brass-toned bands and riveted detailing run along the brow and crown, adding a layer of visual depth. The interior is unlined, and the helmet does not include straps, making it an ideal foundation for custom padding. One of the articulated ear guards is slightly bent, consistent with age and storage. This is a display-grade piece, ready for collectors, educators, or reenactors seeking a historically inspired centerpiece.
