This is a polearm built for one purpose: to crack open an armored knight like a tin can. Originating in late medieval Europe, weapons like this Venetian War Hammer were the battlefield favorites of dismounted knights and men-at-arms, playing crucial roles in breaking armor lines during sieges and frontal assaults. Its practicality even extended to dueling formats such as trial-by-combat and tournament matches, where control and precision were paramount. This Deepeeka reproduction is part of their Medieval heritage range and follows the same design logic as the bec-de-corbin — a devastating combination of hammer, spike, and spear point mounted on a balanced head. The four-pronged hammer face is divided into spikes designed to transfer the force of a strike onto four small points for maximum shock against curved or fluted plate armor. A dazed opponent could then be finished with the long, wickedly-curved crow's-beak pick for penetrating plate. Every facet of the head — and even the butt of the haft — presents an armor-puncturing spike. The head is constructed from robust steel with langets that run down the haft for reinforcement, securely riveted to a solid hardwood shaft. The spikes of the head are blunted for safer reenactment use while maintaining battlefield authenticity. This particular piece features a custom eagle head insignia — a striking detail that sets it apart from the standard model. With a metal end cap completing the construction, it has been mounted on a hardwood handle with metal reinforcement.
